"Seasons" Transitional Housing -We did it!

 

We mentioned back in November that after months of planning, praying and crunching numbers that the Lord led us to two four unit apartment complexes  in Kennewick.  Ideally suited to our need for much need transitional housing, we have been cautious about expanding to fast and committing ourselves too deeply.  Well, careful planning, prayerful consideration, and overwhleming support from the community have brought forth fruit.  We are overjoyed to say, officially, that Tri-City Union Gospel Mission is able to proceed with this phase of Mission expansion!  We are hoping to see a close on the poperties by the end of January 2010.  Please continue to pray with and for us as we step out in faith and proceed to expand our vision and the scope of this ministry in and around the Tri Cities. 

Why transitional housing?  What will it do that the Mission doesnt do already? "Seasons" transitional housing will provide safe, affordable housing for individuals who have spent the past year(s) restructuring their lives through either the Missions’ New Life residential treatment program or some other type of addictions program. These men and women have undergone huge changes: facing themselves, their choices, and taking responsibility for past the wreckage in their lives. They are now ready to transition out of the Mission and re-integrate, in metered steps, back into the mainstream community. Major barriers to a fresh start and living independently include court obligations, employment barriers, negative references, periods of incarceration, and evictions. Our prayer is that ‘Seasons’ will be just that-a new season in the life of a redeemed soul: a time to rebuild, plant, and produce a new harvest. 

For many of our graduates, this is a chance many thought they’d never have again-affordable, safe, clean housing: For someone whose has lived 'homeless', the reality of a 'home' is nothing short of a miracle .
